Keep it Simple Jimmy Page
I have found that we often make things far more complicated than they need to be. And, when a fitness or nutrition program is complicated to follow, it usually results in failure. So this is the first in a series of simple tips that is aimed at making your journey to a healthier lifestyle an easier one!
1. Make one change at a time! Don't feel like you have to change everything all at once. Pick one change and stick with it for thirty days. For example, if you are currently inactive, commit to walking at least 30 minutes a day for 30 days. You can break this into two 15 minute sessions if that is easier. But make the change. Or on the nutrition side, if you are trying to lose weight, reduce your portions by serving food on a smaller plate (and don't load it up to compensate!). 2. Be consistent! Consistently doing the right things usually results in success. We would never consider not brushing our teeth each day (hopefully at least twice a day!), but we regularly miss weeks at a time with physical activity. Put it on the calendar and don't miss. 3. Be a friend! Making changes with someone else makes you 7 times more likely to succeed. It brings encouragement and accountability! And it can deepen your friendship at the same time!
